No DB9 port for console cable!! 1

My laptop does not have a DB9 port for the console cable, it has a DB15 port.

Is this port usable or am I burned in terms of console connection?

Or, is there any other means of using the console cable?

Hello Ryan,

Are you sure it's not a db25 male port, because this should be the older serial port, which can be converted to the newer db9 port by a converter plug.

Perhaps this is the plug you need:

If it really is a db15, it might be a game port or could still be some type of serial port. You can also get usb > db9 serial converters.

I'm sure it's a db15 port, there are only 15 pin-outs.

USB to DB9 is the only way to go.

The new laptops are getting away from the DB9 interface, Cisco knows this and I hear they are working on other interface option for new equipment!
