No connectivity 2

I started my internet application and got a message stating no connectivity and i want be connected to the internet. I checked my Lan settings and i used repair to try to fix the problem. It said windows could not fix the problem and said something about renewing my IP address. How do i renew my IP address to get back on internet in windows XP. I also, ran knoppix and connected with no problem. This tells me i have a connnection. The renew thing is were i'm stumped. Any commments would be helpful.

Type "ipconfig /renew" at a dos prompt.

ipconfig /all
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

are all good commands to remember.

Star for you teash, I just learned something from you , i knew about ipconfig renew and release however i did not know about the all one.

I'm back up and rolling. I had contention with my NIC card. Also, i tried ipconfig /renew all i got was a message saying that it performed on socket that was not there. Well anyways thanks to all.
