Hi all,

I don't konw what's the problem with my Catalyst 2912 switch. There is nothing wrong with the hardware. But, I just can't access to my switch. I tried serveral methods from Cisco TAC. I still can't get any progress. I am hoping anyone can help me solve this problem. Thanks

Hi

What cables are you using? The switch will have been delivered with a rollover cable (usually light blue or black in colour) and a connector for your PC.
I assume that you are accessing the console using hyperterminal, set up 9600 bit/sec, no parity, 1 stop bit and hardware flow control.
See for details.

If your switch is not new it may be that it has had a different speed set on the console port. The default is 9600, but it can be set at values up to 115200. It is worth trying oethr values. Wrong speed may give you a screen full of garbage, but it is possible that you will see no console activity at all unless the speed of console port and PC match.
