Hi,

Got a internet problem that i hope someone out there might be able to help me with. The network is 2 PC's, a broadband connection, and a Linksys router. The downstairs PC can access the internet but cannot see the second pc upstairs. The upstairs PC can not get on the internet or see the downstairs pc. Now both PC's are set up to receive DHCP and the network cables are firmly in place and plugged into the right ports on the router. (Had a guy come out and run the CAT cable and tested it to make sure it works.) Now for the strange stuff. Cannot get any internet at all if the cable from the cable router is plugged into the internet (WAN) port of the router. It only works if i plug it into one of the LAN ports. I have enabled/disabled DHCP on the router and tried several different combinations to get both PC's on the net and see each other but with no luck. The tech support at comcast is worthless. Any suggestions?

For the modem issue, change your LAN subnet on the router to 192.168.2.x, the modem obviously is currently on the same subnet as your local LAN.

Reboot all devices and test again.

I powered everthing down and reset the cable modem. Started each device one at a time and everything seems to be working. Thanks for the advice.
