I just installed a new Sony Pressa CD-RW Model CRX 1611 ( 16x,8x, 40x) on my PC ( Win 98 SE, Celeron 900, 512 MB RAM) . I planned to use the program < Roxia Direct CD v5.02b > to write files to CD-RW discs . The problem was that DirectCD did not see the CD-RW drive : it indicated that there was no supported drive when I started the program .
I checked the set-up and every thing appeared OK because the CRX 1611 can read CD-R and CD-RW discs.

I then started another program called "MyCD Pro v2.0" to check if I can burn a CD . When I started this program, I got a message indicating that : " No compatible Recorder drives have been found in the computer" .

My questions are :

1) What's going on here ? Is Something wrong with the Burner ?

2) Why I can still read CDs and the software does not recognize the burner ?

2) Please advise what should I do next to get things going ?

Thank you,

Some newer CDRW drives will only work with the Burning software that came with them!!
Also it goes without saying, has it been set to slave or master in conjunction with another rom drive?
Also are the drive assignment letters set in device manager? Hope this helps Martin

Look for the latest update from ROXIO, I have seen this problem before and it usally fixes it, also look for a firmware up date to your burner(more common on HP's burnners).G luck
