No communication with FC4500

We have Clariion FC4500 storage unit attached via fiber channel SCSI(QLogic QL2100) to a Compaq 5000 server running NT server 4.0/SP6a. When I select SCSI apadters then select QL2100, it dispalys "No Devices". On the storage unit above the ON light, the amber light is on. Since I'm not familiar with this unit, does the amber light indicates no comunications and what chance is there the SCSI card has gone south?
