No communication from XP machine to other network over PPTP VPN 1

I have two customer offices that are connected by a PPTP VPN on demand (not always connected).
One network is 192.168.1.X and the other is 192.168.2.X
The router providing the VPN is an ASUS RT-N12_D1 on both ends.

An XP computer on the 2.X network cannot ping any device on the 1.X network
A Windows 7 computer on the 2.X network CAN ping any device on the 1.X network
A Windows 7 computer on the 1.X network CAN ping any device on the 2.X network
So, the problem is Windows XP.

I had started a thread before on this subject but since then I have changed the subnet of one network. But.... still no joy. Here are the IPCONFIG outputs for the two computers. Any suggestions? Is it because I have the PPTP adapter getting a 50.X address on the remote side instead of being on the same subnet?

Couple things I notice but doubt they make a difference: NetBIOS enabled on W7 and not on XP. No Gateway on PPTP on XP, is on W7. Possible posting error but you have two of the same IP on the XP DNS server.

Learning - A never ending quest for knowledge usually attained by being thrown in a situation and told to fix it NOW.

Gateway is "missing" on XP, but is 0.0.0.0 on Windows 7 so that's a non-existent device. No real world difference, I assume.
That wasn't a posting mistake. That's the way the DNS server was populated on the XP device.
I'm not worried about NetBIOS over TCPIP. I can't ping anything from the XP machine and that only requires TCPIP to work.

I have made a change to move the PPTP adapter ip address onto the same subnet as the remote network. So, the 50.X ip address will be replaced by a 1.X ip address. I will be testing that tomorrow and will update.

Can't remember the details from long ago but do recall that netbios was the solution to some network issue I was fighting with XP. It acted like it woke the TCPIP up.

Well, I will test MY theory tomorrow and then enable NetBIOS over TCPIP as a second test. Just getting kind of mad that there is one Windows XP machine and IT is giving me all this trouble. If owner wasn't so cheap, this problem would not exist.

Also strange to think that Windows XP IP stack is that much different than Windows 7, but time marches on.

The change to the router's PPTP setup fixed the problem. Didn't have to enable NETBIOS over TCPIP.
This ipconfig (as given to the PC by the remote router) made XP work just fine. The difference was the PPP adapter being on the same subnet.

So, Windows XP doesn't behave the same way as Windows 7 with the 50.x remote ip address. Strange, but.....
