No Clocking on PRI Loop

Was wondering if anyone here has come across the following problem. Our megalink is down right now with Alarm Status "waiting". This happend afer the recent Power outage. After the sytem re-booted we have had no communication over our one single PRI.

Alarm status is "waiting".

The D channel is disabled and though I've gone over LD 60 and LD 96 in vain attempts to renable the D Channel, so far no luck. Clocking is in free running mode and I believe in our case it should be clocking on loop 2

Would anyone be able to view the output below and determine a course of action for activating the clock.

Any effort would be much appreciated.

Jason

Hi Jason,
Things to try:
ld 60
dis cc 0
enl cc 0
trck pck

ld 96
dis dch 63
enl dch 63 fdl

Hope it works

I'm really rusty and i dont have an up to date I/o manual with me
DO YOU HAVE A TMDI CARD NNTM5009N4KT DTI/PRI i think?

try in load 96 > DIS TMDI (X) (whatever card your tmdi is, X) all
that is like > DIS TMDI 1 ALL
>ENL TMDI (X)
it takes a whilebut yoy can see all the lights blinking on the tmdi card as it comes up
OR >ENL TMDI (X) FDL
or > RST TMDI (X)
give the tmdi time to sync possibly a minuite or two
then check the trunk loop

LOAD 60
> STAT
if they are not
>DISL (LOOP) 2
>ENLL (LOOP) 2

check in your i/o manual
but i think i'm close

It looked promising but Alarm status is still "waiting" and Dchannel is still disabled

JoeLunchPail - I'm trying to fix the problem remotely and I don't know if I have that card. However I still tried those commands but no luck. Here is the output

i guess im assuming this is an opt 11, if not: pls disreguard

just sounded like an opt 11 i had , after the span went down , it would try so many times to re start , then just go to sleep, when the span came up it had gone into some kind of lock out mode and wouldnt do anything . are you sure the span is terminated properly at the C.O. and not disabled at their end. That also happened while shooting the same problem. The techs' at the C.O. first told me they had no span alarms, three hours later after checking everything and looping the span back to myself and being convinced my end was ok, i called back to check the span from their end to my loopback, and was informed the span had been disabled to stop the bell from ringing.

also i dont have an up to date i/o manual, sorry
if it is an opt 11 ?
if it is not it won't have a tmdi card; so this wont help.

can you: stat tmdi ??
does it give you a card slot?
i'm only assiming it is in slot 1

did you try: ld 96
DIS TMDI 1 ALL

it doesnt like to be disabled without the whole command including card slot .and for some reason the ALL.

don't be too quick to stat tmdi, or dch , or enable dch 63 after each command some take a few mins.

then: enl tmdi 1
or try: enl tmdi 1 fdl

..
are you sure the span into the C.O. is not oos or disabled .

The situation is now resolved and naturally as a courtesy to the 2 respondents, I'd like to explain the fix.

I personally did not identify the problem. Time was of the escence and we had to resolve it quickly and so called in our service provider. It was just as well since they determined that the dual line pri card was apparently blown (NTTD12AA I think). In retrospect I should have suspected this based on the error messages returned.

As soon as the card was replaced and re-enabling loop 2 we were back in business. Amazingly, there was no need to go into LD 96 to re-establish the D channel. We did so just to check it's status and it was Active and established. Calls into and out of our switchboard were humming along.

Point of interest is the cost of the Dual Line PRI card. The price - $7000.00 CDN. Does anyone have an opinion on this price? Is it a fair price? Ironically we were up until recently on a service contract and had recently switched to time and material to save money. We had gone for years without major system failures and management had chosen to go without it for that reason.

Thanks again to Joe L.P. and Mehnter

I have seen issues like this before. If it happens again try disabling the 2 loops on the DDP and the respective DCH's (if any) and physically remove the card from the PBX and re-seat it. Once it runs through its selftest re-enable the spans.

BTW: I can give you a number to a wholesaler that has new DDP's for $2995 (AG series) and if you want to save $$ they have used DDP's (AD series) for $1995. They also warranty their products. I have found that they usually are 40%-50% cheaper than our vendor. If your interested I will give you the name and number.

BMiles2000,

I wish you had responded earlier. The card is already replaced and I have the old one. However, I watched the service guy disable the loops and unseat the card and re-seat it. Red lights stayed steady lit and did not appear to run it's self test. When he installed the new card it was clearly different as the lights flashed and we had the Dchannel green light on which wasn't happening on the old one.

The prices you quoted are clearly much better. My manager would be very interested in getting the contact for future reference. If you have it handy, please post. Will look for it tomorrow!!

If they charged you $7000.00 for the PRI card that's cool, but make sure they kiss you or at least talk dirty to you.

Much cheaper elsewhere. You should consider buying a "Crash Kit" for your site. You can put one together pretty cheap, compared to your provider. Or find another provider.

There are a lot of providers that will go T&M without poking your eyes out.
