Metaframe XPa FR2 server farm on Win2k SP3.
Netware client 4.83 SP2 installed on all farm servers.

Although some local drive mappings come through to the ICA session none of the Netware drive mappings or Netware printers are going through.

After reading documentation on the Citrix web site it seems that as long as the Netware client is installed on the Citrix servers all that is required is to edit the registry to ensure that the GINADLL calls the CTXgina.DLL and that the CTXGinaDLL calls the NWgina.dll.

The intention is that users will log on to their pcs using the Netware login to authenticate to the NDS tree for normal file and print services. They will then be able to use the Nfuse web page via the ICA 32 bit Web client and are then challenged for their Windows 2000 Active Directory login (to authenticate to the Nfuse server).

A colleague has just suggested that it may be possible to fix this by rebuilding all the farm servers installing Netware client B4 installing Citrix. Obviously this would be the most time consuming fix.

Please can anyone give me some suggestions in order to allow these Netware services to flow through to the published application?

When your users connect thru Metaframe are they getting a Novell Login? They will need to connect to both Novell and the Domain to get there Mappings and printers. Is the Novell service the Primary Login?

No they are not getting a Novell login. Do they need to if they have already authenticated to the NDS tree at pc startup? Also, assuming they do need to login to Novell a 2nd time when connecting thru Metaframe... how do you configure the primary login? Currently primary login is the Active Directory for Citrix.
Thanks

Yes, they will. Think of Citrix as remote control of another PC, not an extension of the local PC. Also, the pass-thru authentication is for Microsoft Networks, ( I think) not Netware.

As for setting the Novell as the Primary Login, it usually does by itself. In Win98\95 you could choose it, but i don't see that in 2000.

Do you have the Novell Client installed or the Microsoft Netware client? You should use the Novell client. By the way they released a new 2000/XP client today.

Hi Jon,
Yes we are using the Netware client 4.83 SP2. Is the new one (just released) that you mention later than this?

We've been advised that we need to re-build all our farm servers installing the Netware client first then install the Metaframe XP. To prove whether this will fix our problem we have built a new 2000 server into the farm with the Novell client being installed first. The installation is still going on this morning (Wednesday) so we haven't had chance to test it.

But from what you say provided the user logs on to Novell it doesn't matter which order the software is actually installed. Can you confirm your recommendation for the installation order as this would save us a lot of re-work.
Thanks
Simon

We have found that the least problems this way:
1. Install OS.
2. Patch OS.
3. Install Applications. Office, etc.
4. Install Metaframe.
5. Patch Metaframe.
6. Install Novell client.
7. Set User Environment. Home dir.,Temp Dir. etc.
8. Apply Group Policies.
9. Add Server to Published Apps. and/or Desktops.

The problem we have had is that if we put the Novell client on before Metaframe the Server has a problem communicating with the farm.

What flavour of datastore are you using? We have opted for SQL 7.0 SP3 and installing the Netware client before the Metaframe seems to have fixed our problem (Netware mapping and printers are now coming through. However we still need to replicate this across the farm to ensure that all load balanced apps work.

What version of Netware are you on? The main NDS tree we use is Netware 5. Do you need to create user aliases in the root OU or will the Netware client find the user's object anyway?
Thanks
Simon

Hi guys...
DavidLeeRoth has been helping on site with this issue. I've resolved the problem by doing the following:-

1. Strip off all Metaframe apps
2. Strip off W2KSP3
3. Strip off Metaframe XPa
4. Remove Netware Client
(SQL client not removed - used for Data store access)
(at this point registry has no gina entries)
5. Reinstate NWClient
(Term services uses NWclient for authentication)
6. Reinstall XPA FR2/SP2
7. Install published apps
(at this point client ica session sees NW drives - provided via login script but not printers)
8. Re-apply W2kSP3
IT ALL WORKS!! [smile2]
Its laborious but it's a solution. Thanks all for the help.

I'm happy for you. I'll have to make a note of that.
We usually did the service pack before Novell or Metaframe. Maybe that is why we had problems.
