After fitting a new Mitsumi cd rom player plus a Mitsumi CDRW CD's will not auto start, dispite having the auto start notification box ticked for each drive. At the moment config. is windows 98 - the main CD drive is a master with a zip drive as slave. on the other port the hard drive is the master with the writer slaved. Any ideas how to remedy this

Hmmm...for starters I'd put the CD-ROM & CD-RW drives on the same IDE channel; and the HDD & ZIP on the primary channel (i.e. HDD=Pri Master; ZIP=Pri Slave; CD-ROM=Sec Master; CD-RW=Sec Slave)
This may even repair your problem in some instances...some systems are just REALLY touchy in that way.
Then go through all of your Windows properties for the CD drives & general properties & make sure that autorun isn't turned off anywhere.
-Robherc
robherc@netzero.net

*nix installation & program collector/reseller.
