Why doesn't my call log store any calls?
I have allocated space on each line(from the pool)
cid is Y call log is Y and set to log All Calls???
Its a compact ics system.

thanks

Are you getting CLID? Call logging will not work, of course, without caller ID enabled by your telco, and CLID trunk cards. Check for the presence of the data signal incoming between the 1st & 2nd rings, And also, do the sets all have ringing line appearances? Perhaps re-post with the details of your system also

do the sets all have ringing line appearances? ~

Yes, I do have cid on all lines and that is working, not sure about the ringing appearance on the sets? How do I check that? I use a call catcher that answers the phones, and sends to a led which line is ringing, (the arrow on the phones also flashes, but turned actual ringers off so they wouldn't interfere with the call cathcer)thanks

What I meant was, do all of the phones have line appearances that ring when a call comes in. But as you wrote, the ringer is turned off so the lines must be programmed as 'Appear Only'
I'm assuming here that we are talking about analog trunking. Not being familiar with your 'call catcher', remember that any incoming call has to ring at least twice before being answered for the call log data to be recieved. That's why the receptionist, or if you use Voice Mail, the Auto Attendant, must wait for the second ring before answering. And a line must ring on a set for the CLID info to be displayed
What exactly does this call catcher do? Does it answer calls? Is it call counting device? Sorry, but I have never encountered the term before

The call-catcher answers the phone on 2nd or 3rd ring, (all cid info is being received on all phones) plays a pre-recorded greeting,(about 20 seconds) than sends the calls to a ringing led display that tells us what order (oldest first)or line to answer first. Analog? I don't know its a compact ics, I just put the cid trunk card in it. It was a
NT5B41GD CALLER ID TRUNK CARTRIDGE.
Thanks

I checked all settings again today as to be correct, I do have cid Y, Call Log Y, and set the space for the 4 lines as line 1 =150 line 2=50 line 3=50 line 4=50 which totals 250 the total amount of space that was available from the pool... Also set call log to "log all calls"

thanks for any suggestions....

Sorry man, got me head-scratching now. One thought, is the call catcher connected to the CICS via a station port on the system? That is, does it have an extension number assigned to it? If so, is that extension programmed to have call logging. And one other thing, in programming under
'Terminals&Sets>Telco Features>Feature Assignment' does each of the sets have log space assigned?
If it was me, and you may have done this already, I would bypass the call catcher and make sure the call log works without it. If not, get it working and then re-connect the call catcher

The Call- catcher is between lines coming in(interface) and cics,
all do have space assigned too...

thanks anyway....

You state that you have the allocated your log space under “lines”. First of all, you allocate the available 250 on a per set (DN) basis. I am guessing you meant 4 phones when you said lines, but I don’t know. Also, your math adds up to 300.

I would do a couple of things:
1. Check if you can manually log by using feat813.
2. Go into system programming / call log space/ and reset all logs

Once you have the space allocated under T&S, and you confirm that the caller ID info is showing on those sets, you would press feat*84 to choose the appropriate auto log option at said sets.

problem solved, thanks for all the help, didn't realize that I had to turn on all 4-lines on all 4 sets to get call logging to work.....works fine now,

Is there anyway to change the message "call for you" that appears on the displays?

thanks
greg
