I use the generic HP Laserjet 4 driver it will run most of the 4000 series, are you using the wtsuprnt.inf file to map your client printers to 'safe' drivers on your server?
I have had good luck with the lower black & white HP DeskJets (600c & 810c) --So long as the user does not need anything fancy-- The HP LaserJets can be a nightmare even when using the wtsuprnt.inf file.
FYI here is a link to the KB article on how to try to untangle the mess that is printing from MetaFrame...
I'll put my neck on the line and say that if the printer can use the 550C driver then it should be ok. Check out the HP resource centre forum for more info on generic drivers. Our remote users are home based and we used the deskjet 550C
generic driver to run the following deskjets ;
HP DeskJet 690C
HP DeskJet 840C
HP DeskJet 660C
HP DeskJet 670C
HP DeskJet 600
HP DeskJet 810C
HP DeskJet 815C
HP DeskJet 830C
HP DeskJet 850C
HP DeskJet 870
HP DeskJet 880C
HP DeskJet 890C
HP DeskJet 895C
HP DeskJet 930C
HP DeskJet 950C
HP DeskJet 970C
We had trouble with the 710, 712C, 720C, 820C and 1000C series of deskjets as they used PPA (printing Performance architecture) which would not work with the 550c driver.
