no boot sector

one of my xp home pc's have crashed with a message saying
'non-system disc or disc error, replace and strike any key when ready'. I'm assuming it's the boot sector as i've installed the faulty pc's hd to another pc with an external hd housing and still see that hd.

Am i able to transfer the boot sector from one hd to this hd that's giving me this problem?

ok...just copied the boot.ini from one pc and paste it to the one that corrupt and now all's fine.

be sure to run a chkdsk to make sure there arent any other disk problems
