In illustrator CS, all of a sudden I cannot add a blur to my drop shadows (under filters or effects). The blur option is greyed out. I did restart but it's still greyed out. Any ideas?

Thanks, Mark

Mark:

This may have happened because your aiprefs has become corrupted. Exit Illustrator. Do a system search for a file called "aiprefs", no extension, and make sure you have "hidden and system files" enabled. When you find aiprefs, delete it. Then restart Illustrator, and now you should have your dropshadows back. Deleting aiprefs causes Illustrator to reset to factory defaults, so you'll have to move all palettes where you want them once again. After doing this, save a copy of the new aiprefs in a separate folder and next time just use that one to replace the corrupted one (In CS, it's almost a guarantee that it'll happen again).
