Hello,

first my specs:

- BE Windows server 9.0 Rev. 4454; Agents/Options: Exchange, IDR, Robotic Library, Remote Agent, SQL, Oracle
- All Servers running W2k SP3
- Backup to Compaq/HP MSL5000 Series with SDLT
- Compaq Servers, NAS
- unfortunately the backupserver also is a productivity server
- a extra User for BE with sufficient rights

Last week i installed the Agents for SQL and Oracle. Since this time the local backupjobs are failing. For example:

-- Unable to attach to one of the drives

Unable to attach to c: (or any other local drive)
Unable to attach to \\mybackupserver\Microsoft Exchange Public Folders.
Unable to attach to \\mybackupserver\Microsoft Information Store\STG1 --

Remote backups are working like before, no problems.

I read multiple Threads about the same errormessage and tried following:

- created a new user with sufficient rights, and a new testjob -> same problem like before
- renamed "BEWINUI.uni" to.old
- deinstalled Remote Agent on the Backup Server; tried a test job
- reinstalled the Remote Agent on the Backup Server

nothing works. For now i am using windows backup on the local server.

Thank you for your time and excuse my english!

Greetings
Michel

Have you looked into the possibility it might be an issue with permissions? Did you change the login? The password? Did access to the drive get changed? Did a share get removed?

After the error occured i created a new user for testing, but the original backupuser/password was not modified.

The backupuser is domainadmin, exchangeadmin, local admin on the backup server and has his own mailbox.

There were no problems until installation of the agents for Oracle and SQL.

We backup no shares, only drives.

The problem is only local on the Backupserver, all Remote Backups are working. If i want only to backup one file local, i get the error "Unable to attach to one of the drives"

Thanks for your reply!

Hello,

unfortunately we found no solution, not even with the veritas hotline. So we did a complete new installation, also we deleted the Veritas regkey.
The first testjob did well, so i start now with creating new jobs etc.

Greetings

A few days ago we had the same Problem again. We supposed it could be the exclusionlist, and it was so.
Unfortunately i deleted it complete, so i don´t know what exactly the problem was.

Greetings
Michel
