We've just replaced a DAT8i drive with HP C7501 DLT

The drive is seen by both SCSI bios and Netware

CANWPABD sees it "DEVICE[0] : *[V312-A1-DA:0] BNCHMARKDLT1"

but PFC.NLM does not

"E21111 No backup device found on host adapter"

QO05996.CAZ and QO06771.CAZ loaded.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Can you check if your loading nwaspi.cdm in the startup.ncf file?

If you are you may want to remove it and load the campwad drivers by editing the asconfig.ini file.

NWASPI is not loaded

Part of CSCONFIG.ini used

CSNLM6=SYS:\ARCSERVE\NLM\CANWPABD NAME=BOARD0

Still comes up with the same error

It must be something more fundimental

Try adding "USEABOVE16" in between canwpabd and CLEAR on the CSNLM6 line of the ASCONFIG.INI file to look like: CSNLM6=SYS:\ARCSERVE\NLM\canwpabd
USEABOVE16 CLEAR

Add USEABOVE16 to the line loading tapesvr (CSNLM10).

Try these entries (the usabove) and let me know how this goes, also what firmware is the drive? I don't know why it is being recognised as the benchmarkdlt1.

No luck with that but....

As a desperate last resort I've put back the HP1533 DAT8 drive.

The software recognises this and loads with only ONE backup device on the adapter, the DAT8 drive.

If I the use the device and media managers the BNCHMARKDLT1 drive is detected can be installed into a group and used normally.

Running Astart still only detects the DAT8 drive!!!

It now works but WHY?

Over to you but now with no too much priority

Cheers

Hi Dunck, happy its working now.

It doesn't make sense though. It should of been detected as easily as the HP device.

This is giving my noggin a floggin :)
