No background on AOL incoming mail. Why ?

A mate has changed over to AOL, and says he can no longer see backgrounds(stationary) on his incoming mail. Also, he has placed a two line signature on all of his outgoing mail, consisting of his e-mail address & his website address. The site address displays OK as a valid link, but his e mail address will not display as a link (underlined). It will only display as a line of text.

Can anyone solve these problems
