We are testing 1XWorspace applications. All remote users and using there laptops over a VPN.

We can call internally without issues. We can initiate the call from the main network out to a remote user and we have two way audio.

However, when the remote user calls the office we can hear the remote user but they cannot hear us.

We have unchecked "allow direct media path" on the extensions.

We do see however, that every call type is "direct media path" under system status.

Any ideas as to what else might cause loss of audio?

Could be the home firewalls don't have correct ports opened. Check the RTP ports

the client to client communication is enabled.

we are using the default ports 49152-53246.

Default ports should be 40750-50750 for SE and 46750-50750 for IP500v2, that changed in later releases since the old port range included exploitable ports.

That port range is used by the IP Office to receive RTP, the Workplace client uses another range to receive RTP, think the default is 3000-3999. You'll see in the INVITE from Workplace which port it wants RTP sent to.

it turned out to be a firewall issue. Having to do with SIP ALG. I will post more info when I have it specific.
