No audio from the camera track

Greetings all . . . I'm having a curious problem. I have clips that were digitized in Premiere in .avi format . . . when I play them in the "Source" monitor, I can hear them fine . . . however, when I cut them into the timeline and play them back, I can't hear the clips at all . . . Music and sound effects come out fine, but the sound from the video itself does not play back. Does anyone know how I can fix this? HEEELLLLPPPP!!!
