I am quite new to administer Domino server, before I have setup and maintained Exchange 5.5
I tell this because maybe the next question is a simple one (I think so myself)

I have made a few alterations to the configuration in the server document,
since then none of the agents setup by users are running anymore and I get an error saying the Domino/domain/com server is not authorized to access the local server

all of the other tasks are running very fine so it cannot be a serious misconfiguration

the only things I changed was setting different types of anonymous connections to disabled and allowing only authorized users

is there anyone who knows where to look for the authorization of the server to access the "local server" or any other way to resolve my problem

thnx,

I seem to have this same type of problem. When I set up the restrictions to allow only.... One of the other things that did not work was the e-mail traces I sent and confirmation messages.

I think I accidentally fixed this when I was having other problems and I added the server's IP address to the allow group.

The restrictions I had set where in the SMTP control Restrictions area. Try that, hope it helps.

check the server document's security page.

There's a field that only allows access to users listed in the name and addressbook.

if this is enabled, servers are no longer allowed to access the server (including the server itself) unless they are listed in the allow access to this server field (or the localdomainservers group's listed there).

so either disable the only allow access to users listed in the nab field or add localdomainservers to the allow access to this server field. (don't forget to add your users there as well).

you also might want to look at the bottom of that page to the fields Run personal agents, restricted ls agents & unrestricted agents.

These control who's allowed to run which kinds of agents, where the unrestricted agents have access to stuff like the filesystem etc.

if you have a few moments you might want to checkout the administration help database which should be either locally on your client or on your server in the help directory. Woonjas

thnx everybody,

that's indeed what was wrong with it
funny thing that the mailserver himself is shut out if you only allow directory known users access
doesn't this sound like a bug or is it just me ?
what good does it do to disallow the local server access to it's own database

thnx again

problem solved

working as designed.

if you hold/click the field label for the Only allow access to USERS listed in the name and addressbook it gives you some info about that particular field. Which tells you about the consequences of setting this field and how you can re-enable server access.
