Are there any options on the Magix 2.2 circuit pack that would block access to the "admin" port on the front of the card? I've tried SPM using a com port direct and tried IP from a Socket Magix unit and it fails every time.. Keeps saying a connection failure but I can get into others with the same Laptop and the same com port config.

Any ideas, or is this board toast?

Mike

One last test you can try is to see if the MODEM connection works.

Also, when I have had trouble, my DEFAULT COM PORT in SPM has changed from 1 to 2 or whatever.

PLUS, I have also had the COM PORT be disabled in BIOS, which then needs to be changed when you first start the machine and then jump out of the Power On Self Test (POST).

Merlinman,

Thanks for your help and support with Tangier Island VA..

I'm in the LAB and have multiple systems up and running, I'm using a laptop for direct and IP access, this is the only one I can't get into. I noticed numerous pin jumpers on the card CKE5 itself and was wondering about those. I don't have another exactly like this one where I could do a "stare and compare". I'll try the R4 method, I never thought of that.

It very could be the Admin port is blown....like MM said you
can try RA from a single line station...have the modem connected to a s/l sta and have it dial *10...see if that gets you in...if not you have other troubles. With Magix processors cheap these days..I'm make sure I have a working
processor. Do you know the password if you could dial in.
It might take pulling the pins to the backup capacitors and
getting it to default....this "might" clear your admin port
problem...

HiDESERT,

Do you know the location of the pins?

I was able to login "assisted" *10 and I erased the processor memory, but I stll can't get in from the front jack..

I don't see any physical damage to the jack port, maybe I'll try the pins if you know where they are..

Thanks for your help,
Mike

Look down where the 2 big round capacitors are, towards the
edge..you'll see a shorting pin...pull it for a minute or so. Then try the admin port...if it still doesn't work....
I'll shop around for another processor...you will want one
that works right. RA is fine for distant programming, but
a pain if standing in front of the switch.

Merlinman,

Yes, it's a defective "admin port" as you and HiDESERT suggested. I did an "assisted" to *10 (good tip Jack)and saved it on a thumb drive with no problem, so I'm out of the woods for now, thanks to you all.

As someone suggested they are inexpensive to replace, but the configuration is what would be important for me to retrive and was some what curious as to what component actually failed.

Thanks to everyone,,

To retrieve the CONFIG, do a BACKUP of the system to a location on the computer being used.

Then it's a rather simple task to convert that data for use on an R4.0. After the convert is done, you can load the data into the R4.0 and you will loose NOTHING.
