Want to upgrade HPOV NNM B.06.10 to 6.2. Are there any issues? Should I update to current patch level before upgrade? Should I backup system or am I being too cautious?
I've never done this - but I don't think it's possible to be to cautious when upgrading s/w as complex as NNM - back it up twice, in different ways, and then tale another copy just in case. Mike

Email welcome if you're in a hurry or something -- but post in tek-tips as well please, and I will post my reply here as well.
I know of one problem. The solid server database will be corrupted during the upgrade. I do not know all the details but there is a white paper that tells how to avoid this and I believe it is a faily complicated proceedure. Get the procedure from
I have recently been through this, and there is in fact a problem with the Solid database. After upgrading, I received the following error: Solid System Fatal Error 11013: License file format is incompatible. HP told me the solution was to issue a new CD, but they gave me a workaround, which is to replace the 6.1 solid.lic file with the 6.2 version from the install CD. I did that and all was well. This may not be the only problem, but it was the only one I ran into. However, I was at the latest 6.1 patch level before I did the upgrade, so that might be a good idea. Good luck, and do a 'complete' backup first, as 6.2 has a different default directory structure and you will probably have to 'restore' from your 6.1 databases.
