hi,
I have discoverd my N/W with 800+ devices in NNM and the default MAP created is really a big mess.I want to have a map which shows lcationwie connectivity.
My network connectivity is like this

CoreSite1<------->CoreSite2

RemoteSites RemoteSites

I want to have Symbols for each locations which can be exploded.

I was able to create location wise symbols and copy and paste relevent network segment for each site.
But I am loosing Edge router to edge router Link by doing this..
can anybody give me some tips to achive this..??

nnmtips-

I have found that using the Internet symbol to create my submaps for States, Cities, Sites, etc. is the best way to create structured maps. Then cut and paste the objects into lower level submaps. Hope this helps.

It's very important to use the Edit > Cut & Edit > Paste functions, not copy & paste to move objects into partitioned Internet submaps. You will lose linkages if you don't do this properly.

The other things you may consider is to cascade the location symbols.

If you have branch offices in different states, use location symbols with symbol subclass of the state branch offices are located in, or city (whichever applies). From there, create more location symbols all the way down to building, room and closet if you want.

Be sure to cut and paste. I've run into problems with NNM 6.2 for NT using the drag and drop into location symbols.

As for the edge routers, keep them in the location symbol they pertain to, otherwise your networks will not connnections to them until you place the router back in the location symbol. Hope this helps and doesn't confuse.
