Hello,

i've got a problem with the "netmon service".

About every 15 minutes, the netmon service stops with no raisons.

For the moment i do this:
- each time netmon stops, the service is automatically restarted by a command line.

But i don't want to continue to work like this...

Would you have a solution, maybe a patch ?

Thank you,

Hi,

Need a bit more information really :

1. What version of NNM are you running ?
2. Unix/Windows ?
3. What patches have you applied (if any)
3. Have you applied all of the latest available patches from the HP OV site ? (4. Does your server meet the minimum OS/patch & hardware requirements for NNM ?

This isn't a problem I've come across a lot. I suspect you need to get your NNM patched to the latest patch levels.

Also, have a look in the logs directory in NNM and see if there is anything reported in the netmon log file.

Nigel.

Hi,

Here is the configuration of my system:

* HP OpenView NNM Release B.06.20 PATCH NNM_00734, 07022001
* Operating system: windows 2000 server
* RAM: 1024 MB

* Free space on C: = 2,29 GB and 2,58 GB used.
* Free space on D: = 5,48 GB and 2,82 GB used

----------------------
I've got the following messages:

The first one:

"netmon is no longer running. Restart it with "ovstart netmon".

And the other:

"L'instruction à "0x77fc9dd9" emploi l'adresse mémoire "0x0000005d". La mémoire ne peut pas être "Read".
Cliquer sur OK pour terminer le programme.

If you know a solution...

thanks

Your Frenchie response sounds like a memory access violation (although I speak no French). Maybe that is what is killing your Netmon.

Try this too, from the command window: "ovstatus -v netmon" gives a verbose status of the netmon process and will tell you if it behind in polling, etc.

Maybe your DNS is hosed (which would probably have much different symptopm).

Also, we upgraded from 6.2 to 6.3 seamlessly, so you might consider that, although I suspect it is something more subtle than that.

Good luck.

Pete.
