When I use the command 'oslevel -s' it comes back as 5300-03-00, but when I do an nmon on the same system it comes back with 5.3.0.43 - AIX Kernel Version. Which is correct and why are they different?? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

The [tt]oslevel[/tt] command is telling you the OS level (5300), Technology Level (formerly called maintenance level)(03), and Service Pack (00 - none applied).

[tt]nmon[/tt] is reporting on the version of the individual lpp containing the kernel, which is a one level more specific than Service Pack (note that nmon is reporting four numbers, the first three of which match those returned by oslevel).
