NLS License issues NetWare 5.1

I am wondering if anybody knows of a solution to the following problem. Last week after running symantec AV on our Novell server, the server began to have problems. The AV scan did not quarantine or mess with any NetWare system files so I am not certain if it is the exact culprit. After the latest support pack update (NetWare 5.1 SP5), it is now possible to access the server again; however, it will not see the server base license or connection licenses so connections are restricted. I have tried reinstalling the license certificates along w/ the server base license object and connection license object, NLS licensing object (NLS_LSP_LCServer), checked to make sure that the certificates are able to be accessed by the server, running dsrepair (no errors). One thing that I noticed is that NLS (Novell Licensing Services) shows up twice when using NWCONFIG. Is there an easy way to unstall one of the instances or does it have to be manually removed since it seems that it cannot be removed through nwconfig even with minimal modules loaded, or is this not an issue? Symantec AV has been removed as well. We have both MLA and red box licenses, I have tried both. Any ideas or additional contacts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

WARNING You can shoot your self in the foot following this suggestion. Only follow it if you have time to fix a licensing problem it may cause. You can only delete a license object by using the same NDS ID that installed the license (or admin if it was installed from the NWCONFIG). You may want to call al local channel partner to help (and put their butt on the line, partners have direct access to NTS when they need help).

Delete everything, NLS object, License objects and license containers. Then at the server prompt, execute SETUPNLS to recreate the NLS object, then use either NWCONFIG or NWADMIN to reinstall your MLA license. This fixes 90% of my NLS issues. Brent Schmidt CNE,Network + [atom]

Hi,

You may also want to apply the NLSLSP5A or NLSLSP6 patch.

This usually repairs the problem that a license reinstall does not take care of.
