All files ar e set to be unhidden. An advanced search for *.nk2 comes up to the outlook.ost file. if i rename this file the autocomplete disappears, so it is in there. My question is...a lot of forums and other users say there should be a file that ends in .nk2. Why is there no .nk2 file and why is it coming up to the .ost file?

outlook.ost is your complete local copy of your mailbox. If you rename that and start Outlook, it will create a new one and copy the entire mailbox to it.
the nickname file is the one that ends in .nk2 and has all of the autocomplete information in it.
