I have tried to install SMDR directly from NIU2 - over LAN. SMDR directly from NIU towards a Win2008 computer running WinFiol should work , but doesn't. Port 23 (telnet) works fine.
But any other port does not. Are there any settings in Win 2008 or WinFiol that must be done?

Usually the SMDR port doesnt connect immediately. In XP, where fortunately Hyperterm is available, the "Wait for a call" just works fine.

Frankly speaking, never tried this on WinFIOL and also WIN2008 server.

No, the problem is that WinFiol (and Tera Term )does not connect (connection refused) and the PROC "TCP" in IONCP is lost after a few seconds.

I may be wrong in understanding your query but still thought if may help you...

If you have used command like
IONCI:IODEV=CIL,User=CIL-0,IP=a.b.c.d,RPORT=xxxx;

then the system which is having the IP "a.b.c.d" should monitor the port xxxx.

Usually the call accounting S/W monitors the configured port.

MD makes a call to this IP when the call data is ready and the system should be ready to receive this call.

Hyperterm had the option of monitoring the port.. "Wait for call"

why dont you use Hyperterm in WIN2008.

this is a good link explaining how you can have the original hyperterm on Win7. I guess like wise goes with Win2008.

Thanks

Hi doktor,

Nithin's response is correct.
you need a telnet server. Winfiol is a telnet client.

Choose any freeware telnet server on the net and you are good to go...

I tried with Tera Term w/o success. Maybe a different setup can do it.
