I just upgraded our NIS+ root master server from Solaris 8 to Solaris 9. All patches are current as of Aug 22nd.
Now , when using the following syntax
passwd -r nisplus [username]
I get the message : passwd: User unknown: [username]
The user is shown as existing ,when I do ;
niscat passwd.org_dir | grep [username]
Any suggestions please ?
For the moment, I have a temporary fix. I create accounts and passwords int /etc/passwd and /etc/shadows, and then modify the nis tables with the encrypted passwords. The accounts work fine then. However, I still can't use the passwd command on the nis tables.
Please help.
