Hello everyone,

What is the configuration file that allows a hosts to connect to a NIS Server and give an order of connecting ?

I think it is /etc/rc.net ?

Thankx

Hi

Install the NIS Client bos.net.nis.client
Then smitty - nfs - Nis Client Configuration

hello,

Thanks for the answer but in fact my question was about which files are involved in the configuration of NIS.

Is there a file where it said to the system to first connect to a NIS server and if this one is down to connect to another server or a DNS ....?

Hi,
I think you need an nis entry in your netsvc.conf file.
An at the end of the file you want nis to look through, you add a "+". If you add a "+" at the end of the passwd file it will go through the local passwords first and then go to nis.
