Quick question;

I am still in the learning process so forgive my ignorance.
I just migrated my system from 5.1 to 5.3, and updated system firmware. I want to set this unit up as a NIM server for a remote office. At this time we do not have the system attached to the network(this could be my problem). When I do smitty eznim the hit enter it starts up but then fails with Error determining network type. Do I really have to have this attached to the network in order to setup NIM or do you all think I am running into another issue?

Thanks

I did some digging and noticed that /etc/hosts had a static ip assigned but ifconfig -a did not show an ip assigned to en0. I used smit to reconfigure info and reran smitty eznim and all is running fine. FYI it is not attached to network, and ifconfig -a now shows an ip address assigned so something must have been screwed up with the en0 config.

Thanks
