I'm testing the 'bare metal' restore of a 650.

The system was built and installed as a NIM client. I then did a mksysb using the 'Define a Resource' SMIT screen. I then wanted to test the rebuild. I booted the box into the sms menus and setup the IPL so that network booting would work. I then set up the NIM restore using smit nim_bosinst
The SMIT screen looked like
Code:

Press Enter AFTER making all desired changes.

I then rebooted the box off the relevant NIC and got
Code:
BOOTP: Wait 60 seconds for spanning tree
BOOTP R = 1 BOOTP S = 1
FILE; /tftpboot/b05301
Load Addr=0x400 Max Size=0x10000000

unrecognised Client program format
At this point the install fails.

I've Googled like crazy but cant find any help. Does anyone have any ideas?

my guess would be that it looks like bootp succeeds but then it's choking on your mksysb resource.

show us lsnim -l b05301 and lsnim -l b05301_new
