I'm trying to install a mksysb image via NIM. My target server is a p640 with 2procs and 2GB of RAM. After I initiate the install from the NIM server the client reboots and fails with the following:

BOOTP S=1 R=1
file:/ftpboot/tru0055-100.domainname.co.uk
LoadAddd = 0x4000 Max size = 0xbfc000
Final Packet Count = 8646
final filesize = 4426277 bytes
PReP-BOOT:Could not open deblocker

Can anyone help?

Try to check your platform type with bootinfo -p

Then check if your machine declaration is good (chrp,rs6k or rspc) and be careful of the bi-processor option

Good luck "Unix, do you say ?"

Thanks for your reply. I'm running AIX 4.3.3. If I do a bootinfo -p i get "chrp". However, the man pages tell me to get the platform type I need to use bootinfo -T, which tells me its a rspc.

I have set the NIM client to be rspc with a mp kernal. Is this correct?

Mmmh ... i think that bootinfo -T does'nt work very well.

I've tried this command on a 43P 150, which i know that its platform is a chrp, and it reply me rspc

I've made a lot of NIM installation and i've always used bootinfo -p to check my platform (for example it is rspc for a 25T).

So, try chrp whit the mp option and you'll be able to boot
