Has anyone done a nim install using a virtual networking? I can get the ping working but can't do the tftp transfer. If I use a blank (0.0.0.0) default gateway I get a flashing 608 on the HMC. What gateway setting should I be using?

If you are going through he Hypervisor then do not define a Gateway. This has worked for me.

I was using 0.0.0.0 as the NIM client setup requires I add one in as it's defining a new network.

Do you setup your new NIM network first or as part of the client definition?

My install gets as far as downloading the boot image, but then hangs on the flashing 608 - which is trying to get client info file i think. If I have anything but 0.0.0.0 defined as the gateway it doesn't get past trying to download the boot image.

Thanks,
John

I've always created the NIM Network first thing. Then add my clients to /etc/hosts and them define them to NIM. Are you using EZ NIM to build the environment?

I specify the ip-adres of my NIM-server as default gateway. Later on I can flush the routing table and create the entry for the right default gateway ...
