Hi Guys,

Need some advice regarding night service options. Am a telephone systems engineer but do not have breadth of knowledge on meridian.

We have a requirement where on a totally "on demand" basis we need to route our main DDI number to an offsite location. However at all other times the day service routing and main night service routing need to stay onsite. I have investigated as far as I can and I believe the system cannot support the TIMED night service facility i.e. NIT 1, NIT 2 etc nor any enhanced night service facility.

Is there any third option in the IDC tables which allow another route to be allocated. Please note that the on demand service must be activated by the attendant position due to site requirements.

Any clues to a possible fix would be appreciated.

The only " ON Demand" feature on a 2250 console is the night button. When it is pressed it will follow the night programming in the customer data block. There can be schedules set up for Nit1 and Nit2 to send it to different locations based on time of day, but is still activated manually.

The easiest way I know is to provide a Phantom DN that by default routes to the Operator and then they just key in a code to route the Phantom to another destination. It's a feature called remote call forward.

It sounds like to are in the UK, and many systems in the UK used *56 as RCFA.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Hi Firebird,

Thanks for your input. I'm sorry to have to ask this as I'm really not aufait with Meridian programming. Would you have time or inclination to list out required programming steps and also the operational procedure to activate the facility. Reason for asking is that our onsite guy who knows the system is on long term sick leave and we're dealing in the dark at present!

Cheers in advance.

If you do this, make sure you use strong passwords as this is one of the primary access points for toll fraud.
