I have an Avaya Merlin Magix system.

Currently the night service destination is the voice mail calling group. We want to contract out to a third party to answer after hours calls.

I want to know if it is possible to change the night service destination to call an outside number.

Any help would be appreciated, the exact steps would be even better.

Make the Operator phone the Principal User of the lines, allow it to do Trunk to Trunk Transfer and Remote Call Forward, then Forward it to the service at night.

Perhaps I did not understand your suggestion;

I have included the Operator extension info below in case that helps clarify my situation.

Buttons 6 through 13 are the 8 incoming lines. Does that make the Operator phone the Principal User of the lines? I have Remote Forward Allow: Yes and Trunk Transfer Allow: Yes.

When I forward the phone to an external number only internal calls to that extension get forwarded to the external number. Outside calls continue to ring on the operator phone.

Any further assistance would be appreciated.

In System Programming -> LinesTrunks -> (More) -> PrncipalUsr

For each of my 8 lines I set the Principal User as extension 20, the operator, but outside calls still ring on that phone.

Is there something else I can check?

Your lines must be programmed for Reliable Disconnect=Yes (and your line must actually provide it)

Look under Lines, TT/LS Disc/LS Disconnect

That did it. Thank you.

It seems to take 2 - 3 rings before the remote phone starts to ring. The Delay Forwarding is set to 0. Is there another setting that could be adding delay?

it takes time for the system to grab another line, dial the forwarding number, and then cut through.

Thank you. One last question. Currently we use a forward button and have to dial the 9 and phone number manually. This may lead to a human error.

Is their a way to program call forward to a specific number into a single button press. A speed dial with the call forward prefex?

if I dial *33 9 955 1234 # the forwarding works but when I tried to program that into a speed dial button it does not seem to allow the # in the speed dial string and does not work.

Again thanks for your help.
