Hey guys!

I've got a question about Night Service that I haven't really seen dealt with.

In night service, I was under the impression that phones do NOT ring (ever) unless they've been configured to be in the "night service extension group".

On both a Magix 3, and a Legend R4 - all of my extensions (that are configured for immediate ring) are ringing one time, before the AA gets the call immediately.

What am I supposed to do differently, so that the phones don't ring at all.. unless I specifically want them to?

Thanks for the help!

- Joel

If they are set to ring, they ring.

IF you set them up not to ring in day mode, but put them in the NIGHT SERVICE GROUP, they will ring only at night.

Does that clear it up?

Well, umm.. I guess..

So you're saying that in night mode, you can't silence phones from ringing that normally ring? Is there any way to do this?

and if you have phones that are setup to do DELAY or NO RING, that they will become IMMEDIATE at night, presuming you put them in the night service group?

- Joel

Night Mode is not a distinctly different mode of operation, it simply ADDS phones that ring. So if a phone is programmed to ring in the day mode, it will continue to ring in the night mode. You could add a DND button to the phones that you don't want to hear ringing, but that also cancels them receiving intercom calls.

Or, run your system backwards. Keep it in Night Mode during business hours, making certain phones ring, and go to Day Mode after hours, to remove ringing from those phones, keeping the ringing at others.

I use REVERSE NIGHT SERVICE on my system and it works GREAT.

But remember, if your Mail follows the SWITCH MODE, you may have to massage it as well.

Night Mode was designed for situations where a few people typically answer calls (perhaps the receptionist) during the day, transferring calls to ordinary workers. In night mode, other people (perhaps the night guard or lonely programmer) may wish to answer calls that would otherwise go unanswered.
