On our Magix we have 'Night Service' set to cover five incoming phone lines whenever the 'Night Service' button is pushed on the operator station. This has worked well for about eight years.

We now have a need to use those lines in different buildings. It is my understanding that I should be able to have a phone in that coverage group disable 'Night Service' for that phone when we need it. I have attempted to do this with the 'Coverage VMS' feature. When the 'Night Service' button is pushed on the operator station, the extension with the 'Coverage VMS' button does light up but when pressed to deactivate for that extension the calls still go to 'Night Service'. I am sure that I am missing something but what is it?

The Coverage VMS feature's function only works with VMS on outside calls depending on the status of Nite Service. You might want to read the description and interactions in the Feature Reference document to better understand how it works.

I have used this feature, and it can be a bit tricky because of the Legend/Magix illogical operation dealing with call sources and what the system calls "an outside call".

All my experiences using this feature have been on the Legend, and it seemed to operate intermittently at times. I don't know if any changes were made in the Magix version of software in its reliability or functionality.

Thank you for the response. These are outside lines.

Would there be another way to send these lines to an Auto Attendant from different locations?

In the Night service field you will find exemptions add the station to this list and cover control also in the same area and that'll fix your problems.
