I have a customer that is tired of having to go through the steps of using feature 982 spelling operator etc... She is asking if there is an easier way. I thought I could just give her a night button, but when I try to add the button, it says denied in admin. What is the difference in F982 and F871 and what do I need to do to give her a button? Its a Norstar CIC's. Thanks in advance.

Often called Night Button/Service is one of the Service Modes/Services in the KSU programming.
In Service Modes you can program a DN or group of DN's to ring when F871 is invoked (F87 on old software/ksu's)
You can add the DN of Voice Mail an it will then answer with AA right away.
Cons:
-No caller ID (CLID) on pots lines
-No ring count, AA will answer right away therefore overrule voice mails AA ring Count
Can also be used for lunch etc
You must setup a group # under Night, Lunch or Evening etc and add the DN then tell the lines which group they will be in.
You program this to go on and off automatically rather then pressing F87X every time.
Read more in the installer and/or coordinator guides for that software level.

You must go into Control Sets and set the recpeptions DN to be the Control set in order to use F87/871

F982 is Operator Status where you can open or close the business and also tell the system when 0 pressed that will get "Operator Not Available" and jumps into the general mailbox..
When told closed it will play the NON-Business greeting specified in Table/X
Con:
-No ring count, it does not tell AA to answer.

Other options for reception not to have to lift a finger
-Have AA answer full time at 0 rings (2 if pots lines with CLID)
-Have AA answer after 3 or 4 rings full time and not worry about callers having to wait 3/4 rings, and tell Table X to use Non-Bus recording and record a night greeting.....assuming done already.
