Night bell is not invoked by temporary closing

We have a Merlin Messaging 4.0. When a temporary closing is programmed the 'night bell' for our system usually is invoked as though it were at night (one ring and the call goes to a menu). This Monday was programmed for a temporary closing. The night bell was not on and the calls just kept ringing (our day is programmed not to go to a voicemail as our calls are always answered live). I cannot find where to ensure that the night bell comes on for temporary closings. This did work this past Christmas holiday. We did have an outage this month. I am going to restart the system to see if this corrects the problem but it is difficult to test during regular working hours. Shy of the obvious (pushing the Night Bell button) is there any other way to invoke the 'night bell'? TIA for any ideas.

The temporary closing should have hte same menu options as your night Auto Attendant, even though the greeting may be different. Re-check your night AA, and make sure the "night bell" is operating like you want. If the "night bell" option is part of "night service" from the PBX, then that is the issue. In other words, if the PBX is sending calls to the night bell when the "button" is pressed, changing the AA will have no effect.
Could have an option in the AA to "ring the night bell", then have the selector code set to send the caller to the night bell extension.
My guess is that this is the case.

To physically test the Nite Bell at anytime just call the station number assigned to the bell. Otherwise follow Pepperz's suggestions....

Hope this helps!
