Anyone know of a way to have phones in Night Service just continually ring and not go to a mailbox of a phone in the group? If I assign a phone to the Group that has voice mail then the call forwards there with the FNA setting.
Night service doesn't stop any ringing it only adds additional ringing .
what are you trying to accomplish ?
Maybe you could have it in Day service Mode during the day and take it out of service mode during the night. Have a ring group on the set for normal ringing (during the night) and add the line to the set during the day with the service modes.
Could get messy if you are making a lot of changes
The control set display will be screwed up during the day as well (no time and date etc)
I'm trying to get calls that come in during Night Service to just continually ring a group of phones.
Right now what happens is if I have phones with no Mailbox and Call Forward No Answer turned off I get what I want.
But if you add a phone to the Ringing group that has a Mailbox then the call follows that phone after 4 rings.
I just want them to ring until the calling party hangs up.
Ok after reading the post again I went back to looking at some way of using the HG like curly said. I know I can't put a HG DN in a Ring Group but I may have found something, at least here in the lab it worked.
If I add a phone that no one uses and I set it to Call Forward No Asweer to a Hunt Group before 1 of the phones with voicemail can send it to a mailbox. Then the call just rings the Hunt Group which I have all Night Service phones a part of that Hunt Group.
yes I was also thinking about hunt groups
I use one hunt group for immediate ringing on a bunch of phones that have no voice mail, and I FNA that hunt group to FNA after 4 rings to a second hunt group that appears on the rest of the staff's phones who have Voice mail. which creates a hunt group with delayed ringing on the admin staff phones.
When the manager starts to get too many calls ringing in his office to answer, he can encourage the floor staff to answer the phones sooner.
I have never had a complaint that calls are being dumped into the wrong mail box. but in this case I don't think they get the chance to ring forever either
