Hi

We have a customer who tries to send out universe reports via email from their NCFIII compact universe.

The problem is that they don't receive the emails. They see the following error

Failed (Error - 2147220977 -- NURO.ReportObject.ExportReportWithSMTP: The server rejected one or more recipient addresses. The server response was: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for <email address>. Stack: (NURO.ReportObject.ExportReport).

I have sent test emails from Ghostmail and they arrive successfully. I can send reports to My Universe. I just cannot email reports.

Has anyone had any experience with sending emails from universe?

Cheers

We were getting the following error which appeared to be McAfee closing port 25 for runreport.exe:

Failed (Error -2147220973 -- NURO.ReportObject.ExportReportWithSMTP: The transport failed to connect to the server

Additionally check you can telnet to your smtp server ip address on port 25?

Additionally on the SMTP services uncheck the option attempt direct delivery before sending to Smarthost.

Hope this is of some help, I don't really understand SMTP that much though.

I can already send some emails through Ghostmail so port 25 is open.

I will check the sending to smarthost option.

One thing that I did check last night was sending from different domain names. The email tests that I had sent were all from the customers domain name. I have since sent from multiple domain names and only a couple of them got through which made me think that the realying was only setup to allow specific domain names.

I have now contacted NICE to try and find out what the senders address is for reports and also asked the customers Notes administrator to check and see what happened to the emails that never arrived.

Notes? Lotus Notes? Theres a Relay Restrictions option somewhere where you can try setting the options to the following and then lock them down afterwards once you have succcess:

Select which computer may relay through this virtual server: set to All except the list below (have the list empty)

Set option: Allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above to checked.

setup outlook express on ncfIII and create dummy email adress and use smtp server address to send emails. this will clear your problem

I had a look at this. I thought that I would have to oconfigure reporter to use a pop client instead of a mapi client.

When I try to do this I don't have the option to change this. :S

test your email server by telnet first:
for example:
telnet emailserver 25
helo
mail from: akarounas@emailserver.com.ar
rcpt to: Akarounas@emailserver.com.ar
data
From: akarounas@emailserver.com.ar
Subject: any TEXT
.

If you recive the email
then go to IIS
Go to Default SMTP Virtual Server

Click on Delivery
-Click on Advance
-Add smarthost: "customer SMTP server name"
Click on Access
-Click on Relay
-Click on All except the list below

Regrads.

I think that the customers relay box is setup to only accept certain domain names.

For example

I sent emails using ghostmail and changed the sender address using hotmail.com, nice.com and the customers domain name. The only mail that got through was the customers domain.

However, I have checked the settings that AlejandroKarounas has suggested and am waiting on the results from the customer. I did have to change the relay settings.
