Hi all,

I have some calls that have been archived off to nice storage centre.

I would like to be able to play them back, however query says that it can't locate or retreive the call.

I've searched the storage centre and have found the correct call but it's been saved in a NMF format and nice media player won't play it.

Any ideas?

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

I don't know if it has been fixed but when I worked with nice about 2 years ago there was a bug and we were told never to use nmf. check with the support guys in the minories.

Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?

hmmm

nothing in this seems easy.... I found out how to get the calls back, and it seems our storage centre is set up to save everything as .nmf and not .aud

There isn't an native NMF player as part of the applications. There is a special player that NICE support uses to play NMF files (which is actually part of the v.9 player).

Otherwise, you can probably use the NMF explorer on the Storage Center itself.

Does anyone know how to enable the .aud format? In my storage center it has the nmf format dropdown box but it is grayed out? PLEASE HELP!

I'm not sure how to select the storage format, I'm pretty sure it does mention it in the manual though.

As to problems retrieving from the apps we've found you need to add the storage center into the CLS host file and the CLS into the storage center host file.

Additionally if it is a network location the directory needs to have read access by all domain users.

Another point to consider is that you cannot retrieve from the storage center using the web applications, a little trap we've experienced here.

well I figured out how to save as AUD. In the registry on the SC server there is a option for admin mode. U set it to 1 and gives u the option to save as aud. I dont know the reg off hand but if u need it i can find it for u.

that's enough of a lead to keep me happy safe.

I don't plan on ever changing the format though (unless of course a customer specifically requests it) as correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that NMF has better compression than AUD and is also obviously a more secure format, quite important if the directory that holds all these audio segments has read access to all domain users.

I would suggest keeping the NMF format as it removes silence from the file and adds it back in on playback. This is especially important if you havephone or open mic that are recording 24/7 regardless of Activity. Such as Trading Floor turrets. Just use the NMF Explorer as denazn suggested to playback calls you are unable to retrieve.
