With the NICE version 7 through 8 digital systems, what do they use to remote into the DVR? Is it a third party software or an integrated application within the NICE software?

You may not have to pay a "chunk of change" depending on how you want them to connect. If you wish them to connect using a method that they have not tried and tested before then it will cost you to get them to test the vpn software and certify it. This may lead to future issues though because if, for example, a service pack is released or a new version for your vpn software then Nice will have to test and certify that aswell before supporting it on any of their servers. So this route has a daisy chain effect. If you wish them to connect using a method that is already in use for some other customer then they won't charge you because they won't need to spend rescources testing it.

Would there be any complications if I remoted into the DVR through PC Anywhere?
I need to view and monitor the activity of the DVR and the digital medias that it is recording. The goal is to maintenance the DVR unit and monitor the system also as a workstation remotely.

No there won't be any complications using pc anywhere to remote to the dvr. 99% of nice's remote support is done using pc anywhere. Nice recommend using pc anywhere over any other remote application as it's been tried, tested and certified on their machines.
You can only use a remote desktop to interface with the console. If you install Remote Desktop on the computer and connect to it this will start multipule instances of programs running. This can be bad to say the least. Stick with pcanywhere, not a bad program at all.
