Good Morning,
I wanted to see if I could get some assistance on this error.

Automatic Archiving suspended (652) for 2392:22 hours

No media for Automatic Archiving (deck 1) (617) for 2392:22 hours Insert a media

Before I go monkeying around in the server room, I wanted to see if this means what I think it means... I need to put a DAT tape into the NICE machine.

Is there a NICE (SA) Manual out there, I was unable to find it on the Avaya website.

learn2shoot,

you got it perfectly well: most probably a tape got filled up three and a half months ago and was ejected automatically. nobody bothered to check it since then...

There was no tape in the deck, apparently one was never installed since we installed the switch 2400 hours ago. :)

I put one in and I expect the error to evaporate in the next day or so.

Or is there a procedure I need to complete to restart the archiving?

Thank you

learn2shoot,

since supervision reports automatic archiving suspended, i think the logger is already configured for it so after you inserted a tape you don't need anything else, logger should start archiving itself. it wouldn't hurt to check how it's going via administrator -> backup application, i guess if logger didn't have any tape in three months it will fill the one you inserted pretty quickly and eject it after it's full so you will need another tape to replace full one. and most probably you'll need a pack of tapes. :)

The first time I put the tape in I walked away... Apparently the tape popped out a few seconds later. Every time I put the tape in it pops out a few seconds later. So. the error remains. I will try to post a link to an image later tonight.

the image would be the backup setting in NICE Backup

learn2shoot,

are you sure you put in a blank tape?

brand new out of the box with original packaging :) The head cleaning tapes tend not to hold much data.

learn2shoot,

strange thing, backup settings look ok to me. try to have someone else inserting the tape while you look at backup application to see what happens.

Return the device to retrieval mode and put the tape in and see what it says.

I solved this and boy do I feel dumb! (but there were 3 other people here looking into this so I feel some reprieve)

I have been putting a DAT72 tape into a DAT40 drive....

The guy who can order the tapes for me is back on Monday, and I am thinking this should take care of the problem.
