Has anyone else been hearing rumours about NICE buying Verint recently?

When I was born I was so suprised I didn't talk for 18 months

biglebowski,

i hasn't but if that's true it's a really nice move lol.

hmmm that's a interresting one.... where did you hear it?

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

Was chatting to a senior manager at nice the other day who was saying that there has always been a plan to buy verint. He said that NICE put in an inflated bid for witness knowing that verint wanted them and would have to beat it. In the end verint paid $950 million for witness who were valued at around $600 million and now have a hefty loan and profits from witness will never repay this debt. Verint is now weakened and vulnerable for a takeover.

Not sure if this wasn't just nice trying to save face over losing out to verint but the verint share price is down to $3.5 so something must be going on.

interesting
Earlier this week, NICE and Verint reported that they settled their patent fight. Under the deal, the two firms settled and agreed to dismiss all patent disputes between them. The feud began between NICE and Witness Systems, and continued with Verint after its purchase of Witness.

Last time NICE lost a patent suit was with Dictaphone who they then bought out months later.

I understand the lawsuit with witness was over voip and verint are now requesting that NICE stop selling any products (i.e voip recording) that use their code.

Lets see if history repeats itself, not sure if the purchase of verint would be approved by the SEC though on grounds of market monopoly.

seems to be a smoothing of paths before a merger/buyout
