I was on the internet the other night and after I finished I noticed my Desktop icons had been moved. Obviously this feaked me out so I ran Norton Antivirus and Spybot...neither found anything (Spybot found minor things). Then I reinstalled my Zone Alarm Pro.

The next morning I was having a problem getting on the internet...I use a DSL modem and run it through a Linksys Wireless router. So I thought I may have problems with Zone Alarm so I removed it...still unable to get on the net.

Then I noticed that my NIC card was not being recognized, tried to use system restore back to the 8th with no luck and the NIC card is not showing up in my Device Manager.

I NEED HELP as I can not access the net...and am not sure what else may be wrong.

You need to reinstall the NIC drivers. Then, you may need to run Winsock fix to clear any wierd stuff that may have happened.

The device doesn't show in device manager? Not even with an exclamation/question mark? Shut down the system, remove the card, and reseat it. If its an onboard controller, make sure its turned on in BIOS.

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
