Hi all,

I was wondering if someone would do me a big favor. I'm down to my last hope, as I can't find any documentation on doing this. I was wondering if someone who have support agreement with Checkpoint could pose a question to them, and see if they have any documentation on this question:

I'm running Checkpoing NG AI on a windows 2k Server, I want to move the application onto another 2k Server. The server that I'm moving to have a different IP and hostname, How do I go about doing this? Their probably going to mention the export\import utility, this is fine if it's an exact duplicate machine, in my case it's not.

Thanks everyone.

Build your new server with the same IP, export from old to new and then change the IP address after the import. Make sure that the license is changed to reflect the new IP address.

You will also need to check through your rulebase manually to ensure that all entries referring to the old ip addressare changed.

There is no simple process for this, is it absolutely necessary that the IP address changes?

You can try using the cpmerge utility from Check Point.

Do an install of CP on the new server and set it up, when you connect to it with a GUI, you should see it's own object only. The cpmerge utility will 'export' the rulebase(s) to a .pol file. Copy the .pol files and the objects_5_0.C file from the old management station to a temp directory on the new management station and use the merge utility to 'merge' the old objects list with the new one (the one with only one object). You can then 'merge' in the rulebase(s) as well.

I haven't used the cpmerge in a while but there should be release notes on how to use it. If not, just ask and I'll play around with it.
