I'm just starting to look at implementing NFuse to access a couple of Farms with Published Desktops, does anyone know of a web-site/documentation (not Citrix..!!) for an absolute novice, looking for a very basic, step-by-step guide.....!!!

thanks

Could you be a bit more specific?

Are you asking for step-by-step instructions on setting up NFuse? The Admin guide is OK.

I assume you're not asking how to publish a Desktop ;-)

To access multiple farms, you'll need an NFuse site per farm, unless you're running NFuse Elite.

Basically, NFuse is a Citrix extension to your webserver. It publishes a website that contains links to published applications. It does this by resolving those links to MetaFrame Published Applications - in much the same way that Program Neighborhood does.

Deployment depends (of course) on whether you've got a LAN, WAN or both.

Internally, just setup your NFuse server, point a browser at and off you go.

Externally, I'd recommend a CSG server for security, and locating the NFuse server(s) behind a NAT enabled firewall in a DMZ. This will involve setting alternate addresses on your MetaFrame servers - a question that comes up time and time again - yet is well covered in Citrix's KB.

A file to keep an eye out for on the NFuse server is NFUSE.CONF. Most things that need to be tweaked are in here.

These are the basics - you should find getting it working over the LAN gives no problems. The WAN access will be a different story. Just ensure that all the required ports are open on the Firewall, and the MetaFrame Servers have Alternate Addresses set. Did I say that earlier? Good - it's worth repeating :)

I hope this is helpful - please ask further on any specifics. CitrixEngineer@yahoo.co.uk

We are trying to set-up multi-farm access using NFuse 1.7, that will (eventually) allow us connection from the Internet...

I have a very basic system working OK for connecting to a single Citrix Server on our internal network, but in order for us to implement properly I really need to set-up access to our farms....

I have some Citrix Documentation that details how to do this utilising the Web-Server and the XML Service on each Metaframe Server in the farm...

However, the "fun" part is in modifying the HTML required to grant access to each farm, I really need a list of the required pages and what each page does, part of the Citrix guide appears to reference pages that haven't been generated by the NFuse Wizard....??? What controls the "flow" of info between the pages, how is the order of the pages generated and controlled...???

Once I get this phase of the project working, its time to look at VPN and CSG...!!!

Thanks for your reply Citrixengineer....
