Friends...

I have NFuse 1.5 set up and it works well. However visitors to the nfuse web site need to have a citrix client installed on their machines. If they don't, they get the dialog box "What do you wish to do with launch.asp".

Now I have heard that it should work without the client, that an active x control should be automatically installed.

How this possible? How can I set this up?

Any help would be appreciated

You need a Citrix client to connect to an NFuse server to run embedded applications.

The ActiveX control is automatically installed when a computer with an existing ICA client connects to an NFuse server via a web browser.

The ActiveX control is required for Embedded applications. Launched applications may be the answer you are looking for.

I hope this information is useful

TinRAM,

You need to ask a Citrix Guru, such as Vasile. I'm sure he can enlighten you on this problem.

Citrix Eng...

Perhaps I have not given you enough info. I am running Metaframe 1.8 with FR1. Nfuse 1.5. Nfuse applications are of launched nature, not embedded.

A user will open IE an go to the nfuse page, they will log in, they will get a listing of their applications, if they click on an application if will work IF and only if, they have a citrix client installed on their machine. However I heard that it is possible to set it up so that they do not need that citrix client. So that an active-x control gets installed and used

TinRam;

I'd be interested if you find a way of doing this - to the best of my knowledge you need an ICA client to connect to a Citrix server, period. Even if it's just the ActiveX plug-in to the browser, which should automatically download and self-install if your browser is configured to allow this. Check the security settings.

NFuse applications can be either launched or embedded, depending on how you set them up (unless something has changed radically since NFuse 1.0, that is).

If the client does not know what to do with an Active Server Page (*.asp file), then there is no application installed that is configured to run it, ie the ActiveX control.

I hope this information is useful.

Ruster; I've not encountered Vasile before - which forum(s)/newsgroup(s) does he/she post to?

I believe that CitrixEngineer is absolutely correct. Your browser will not know what to do with the .ICA file unless the ActiveX Control or NetScrape plug-in is loaded. Otherwise, it just opens the .ICA file like a text file.

My NFuse setup pops up a daughter window (for I.E.) if the client does not have wfica32 loaded, or it is an old version. Do you have the latest Web clients loaded in your Client update db? This could be the issue you are facing...

Citrix Friends...

My problem is that the active X control is does not get installed automatically. If a user with a web brower goes to the NFuse page and clicks on an application, I know he/she needs either the client or the active x control installed. But isn't the active x control supposed to get installed automatically if there is no client installed? It does not in my case... I have talking about this to many people. I have heard that version 1.5 is different than 1.0 for this matter, but I am not sure if this is correct.

You have set your Citrix server to automatically update clients, via the Client Update Configuration tool?

You may have hit on something here.
Yes I do have a DB update the clients, however, I only have the Win32 client in there. Now, I went to the citrix web page to download the latest ALE driver and noticed that there is only a 4.X driver available. I believe that the version 6.X is required.

Perhaps they have not come out with the correct active x control for nfuse 1.5 yet.

The current version of the ActiveX control certainly works with NFuse 1.5 - I have it on my system. I think it is only the WinX clients that are up to 6.x.

In any case, the Client Configuration tool doesn't care which version it downloads, depending on the check you give it; ie whether the version to be upgraded is any version, same as or newer only.

I HAVE THE ANSWER!!! (Finally!)

1) dowload the active-x *.cab file and put it into the root of your nfuse site.
2) Edit the login.htm file and add this:

<OBJECT classid=&quot;clsid:238f6f83-b8b4-11cf-8771-00a024541ee3&quot; CODEBASE=&quot; >THE Object</OBJECT>

I tried it... works!
